Gist Yarn x Otterwoven Collab - New Pattern Now Available!

I’m thrilled to finally share some exciting news! My absolute favorite yarn company, Gist Yarn, invited me to collab and create a pattern for them—and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Introducing the Skip Dent Plaid Wrap Pattern — now available through Gist Yarn for both rigid heddle and 4-shaft weavers.

I designed this beautiful oversized wrap using their luxurious baby alpaca and wool yarns (Ode & Array), which are a joy to work with. They have curated ready-to-ship kits in the original color way, or you can create your own individual color way.

For this piece, I reimagined plaid by overlaying it with Skip Dent and spaced weft techniques. My goal was to create a contemporary design that showcased and enhanced the texture of the yarns, while adding captivating visual depth. I chose colors that I would wear myself and would be an instant classic addition to any fall or winter wardrobe.

This pattern weaves up quickly and the final piece is a cozy, remarkably soft wrap, perfect for snuggling up in style. When I was sampling for this piece (last year!) I fell in LOVE with Ode and I've since woven quite a few pieces to add to my own wardrobe. Yes, I do live in South Florida, but I also travel ;) For this wrap in particular, I chose to weave it at an open sett and by using the skip dent and spaced weave technique, it really weaves up into an open and airy wrap. On a crisp winter 60 degree South Florida day I can totally wear this with a t-shirt, jeans and boots!

I can’t wait to see how other weavers interpret my pattern, and I’m really excited for you all to experience the warmth and beauty of this piece by adding it to your own wardobe. You can visit their website and purchase a copy of the pattern and/or kit by clicking here.

Creating this design was an incredibly rewarding process and I would like to give a big thank you to Gist for providing the weaving community with such high-quality, sustainable yarns and for this incredible opportunity. And also a very special thank you to @soulspaceart for guiding & believing in me! 🤍
